Before the “2021 In Review challenge,” I was planning on redesigning the covers of my 9 favorite new rap/hip hop albums of the year. Spoiler, it is still happening. This gave me an opportunity to discuss something different - Portugal. The Man’s “Oregon City Sessions.” Originally record in 2008, the album is a collection of live songs from their older album “Church Mouth.” Live, raw, free - bonkers riffs - and a hypnotic flow that connects pretty much every song together…this album has been on repeat when I need some creativity.
