Vote Decent Human Being 2020

We canā€™t afford to wait around and hope for the world to change; we have to make it happen ourselves šŸ‘ŠšŸ½ā

If youā€™ve followed my page for a while, you know I donā€™t typically create work about politics. This piece kind of poured out of me from a sense of pure frustration at the state of the country right now. I strongly feel that we are on the precipice of great change as we come around to another election year. As monumental as 2016 felt at the time, almost 4 years of Trump and other toxic politics around the world have cemented the feeling that 2020 is going to be critical in determining how we move forward. Diplomacy, morality, common sense, decency, and worst of all, truth, have all been eroded and corrupted to new extremes in the span of less than 4 years.ā

As a child of immigrants, I never thought I would feel this saddened by the state of my own country. My parents came here almost 40 years ago to find their American dream, and they did it; they came from war and poverty and built a family, a home, careers, and savings from almost nothing. I donā€™t think it wouldā€™ve been possible anywhere else. I inherited that feeling of optimism and finding my own dream in a wonderful country. And as popular as it is for Americans and everyone else in the world to simply write us off and say ā€œAmerica sucks,ā€ I donā€™t believe that. We have our problems like any other place in the world, but I still believe in us. We are not beyond saving. We just all need to do our part.ā
ā
Weā€™ve gotten complacent and weā€™ve taken the opportunities we do have for granted. So 2020 is our fucking wake-up call. The time is now. We need to make a decision on how we want the future of our country to look. So vote. Speak out. And for fuckā€™s sake, letā€™s elect someone who meets the bare minimum of just being a decent human being!ā
