Mapping Mountains

Sketching out ideas for the Scottish Tech Startup Awards 2018 trophy design. I honed in on the Ochil Hills in Clackmannanshire Scotland (know as the epitome of Scotland) where I studied the topography to inspire the design of the trophies. Inspired by the topography of the Ochil Hills, I decided the awards shouldn’t be identical. I modeled all 10 in a continuous line. When lined up together, they create a cohesive strip of hills. When separated, they each become a unique chunk of the rock. This is symbolic of the winners of each award, individually unique yet united by a shared vision of a better world. The final design was modelled in Fusion 360 and the data was sent directly to a CNC machine to cut the awards out of solid blocks of tulip wood. The awards were then laser engraved with the winners details etc, and stained black.
