Google Maps Parking Case Study

As the saying goes, "It's not the destination, it's the journey". Still, even at the destination, you'll need to park. This was an exploration of how possible it was to integrate a detailed parking indicator seamlessly into the already robust google maps. The goal was to reduce the amount of time spent looking for parking once a user was already at their destination, especially in the busier downtown areas where parking is sometimes a gamble.

Some of the new features would be a new map layer to show the amount of availabilities at participating garages and lots, the ability to reserve a space which would then store inside the 'For You' Reservations tab along with concert tickets or any other reservations a user may have for quick access, and the option to map to the parking location first followed by the continuation of mapping if a user needs it to arrive at the main location.
