πŸ§‘πŸΎβ€πŸ’» Work From Home

Due to COVID 19, must of us have started working from home for the last couple of weeks. This lifestyle can be very pleasing, you can manage your own time, but at some point during the week, you start to feeling frustrated too. This situation has brought me thoughts about the pros and cons of an entire work from home lifestyle, and that's what I want to talk to you about today.

πŸ‘ Pros

Manage your own time ⏱️
I work in a company were you report 8 hours daily, not including 1-hour lunch. We are free to start our day at 6 or 7 a.m, which means if you are an early riser, like me, you are available at 3 or 4 p.m. or, if you are more comfortable with waking up later and starting your day at 9 it is fine too.
There is also the possibility of managing appointments or errands.

Save time βœ…
You don't need to drive or take public transport to get to your workplace. I've been making the math, and daily I spent 1-hour driving to get to my office, and getting stuck in traffic can take 20 or 30 minutes more, this can be stressful and depressive. Make your numbers that are 5 hours per week, 20 hours monthly, 240 hours a year. That is the time that you can use to work on your projects or spent time with your family.

Increase productivity by creating your working environment πŸš€

You are not under any external distractor during your day, you manage your workspace and avoid getting interrupted by everyday situations at the office, like chip talks with other coworkers and receiving visits of customers.

πŸ‘Ž Cons:

It's more challenging to separate leisure from work time πŸ™‡πŸΎ

You work, sleep, and eat at home, this makes difficult to separate the work from private life, and work can get into your personal life or vice versa, you often feel the need to lay on your bed or sit on the couch, especially after lunchtime. Sometimes, something simple, like going to the kitchen to drink a glass of water, can be distracting if your family is watching TV.

You miss the in-person social interaction πŸ™ŽπŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ

Throughout the day, you start to miss a little talk while getting a cup of coffee or just asking your coworker for some feedback on design and sharing knowledge.

Unhealthy Lifestyle ❌

Sitting all day in front of the computer can turn into a poor health condition, you will start to feel tired and sedentary after a couple of weeks.
To keep our body and mind healthy, it is a must to stand up at least three times during the day and make some stretch. It is also a great boost to get a view on the window or balcony to clear your mind. Of course, there is the possibility of exercising after getting to work.

πŸ™ŒThe touchdown πŸ™Œ

For me, it has been a great experience, and so far I feel good, always trying to improve what I can. My advice is, take advantage of all the great opportunities that working from home offers, saving time is priceless, use this time for whatever makes you feel happy and passionate.

Now, have you had the chance to work remotely? What other pros and cons do you have experienced? What do you like the most and what definitely doesn't like at all? Let me know in the comments below πŸ‘‡πŸ»
