Silence. Compliance. Violence.

The past few days have been eye-opening for some. I know I've learned even more with all of the resources being shared. It's important that we continue to listen, educate ourselves, and correct our ideas, habits, and perceptions. If you spoke up yesterday I'm glad, but you don't get today or any day after that off. Racism works 365 and never skips a beat.

This cycle of white silence and compliance with the system still at work will continue to lead to violence against black communities. Fellow white people, we need to continue to step up and have uncomfortable conversations with other white people. Call them out. Educate them. There is still so much ignorance out there. That is one of the most powerful things we can do, and only we can do. When we don’t confront people, friends, and family about racist comments, jokes, actions we let this cycle run again and again and we keep racism alive. If you’re not part of the solution you’re part of the problem.

If this offends you I suggest you continue to listen to other’s perspectives, have civil conversations, and not shut out things that challenge your convictions.
