Barakat Mohamed

"Barakat Mohamed" English translation: "Blessing of Mohamed" - (Prophet of Islam)
is a sacred term for the people of Essaouira (you can find this symbol almost everywhere in the city)

The meaning of the term
It's in 18th century with the founding of the city by Sultan Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah Al-Qatib (Mohammed III c. 1710-1790), calling for the divine protection of the city.
He built a fortress originally called Souira ("the fortress"). Later, the name was Are Saouira ("the finely crafted image") Today, this city is called Essaouira.
