Textures for iPhone apps

What't the problem with color coding? With color labels in Finder? With event colors in iCal? With label colors in Gmail? Because they are pretty much senseless. Blue is blue, brown is brown. Color doesn't have any taste, any surface, any smell. It doesn't bring any memories.

We should use the textures instead: the texture of asphalt. Of dark bread. Of coffee beans. I bet you could remember pretty well last time you wet and scratched the knee. The smell of your current sort of coffee. The taste of the toast. You see? That's how the textures beat colors.
