The ORION Font 🌟

1. Introducing ORION, my first custom font! ✨ This all-caps display font is inspired by Ancient Astronomy. It’s packed with a bunch of alternates that include celestial details such as crescent moons and stars. It also supports multiple languages! I’ve been slowly chipping away at this project the last few months, so I’m super stoked to finally release it. 😅 If you dig the style, visit jarodocton.com/shop to purchase. 🚀

2. How to Use the Font: For anyone curious about how to apply this stylistic font in a practical way, here are some potential ideas. You could utilize ORION for bold call outs on a variety of packaging, book covers, black light posters, album art, badges, badass t-shirt graphics and swanky looking logos (like I did for myself). The list goes on and on my friend. Heck, with Halloween around the corner you could use the font for some occult or magically themed art! The aesthetic applications are endless. I’d love to see what you end up creating using the ORION font, so please be friendly and share with me. 🙏🏼

3. Creating Your Own Font: To anyone that has ever aspired to create their own font, you can do it too! Sure, it’s a tedious process but once you’ve done a few it only gets easier. Start with the following letters: n/N for straights and o/O for rounds. Once those are done, you’ll have a formula for designing the rest. By doing this you’ll also ensure everything looks consistent when looking at the font anatomy. Don’t be intimidated by the amount of work involved though. No matter how daunting a task may seem, “batching” can make anything seem that much more achievable. In short, there’s nothin to it but to DO IT. ⚡️

4. Liner Notes: I gotta shout out my brother from another, @Myles Mendoza, for pushing me to do this. He saw the initial potential for a full font derived from the letters in my Studio Octon logo. I’ve always wanted to create a font and now I can finally check that off my design-bucket-list! Thanks Myles for all your encouragement and support. Your feedback was definitely appreciated. If you're not already, go follow that man! He has some really awesome stuff coming very soon. 🏁
