Bus stop A/R concept

I was imagining what a bus stop experience would look like in an augmented future.

In this concept, assume that the user is wearing augmented glasses, or is viewing the world through a mobile device camera. From a distance, a helpful pedestrian experience would be to understand when the next bus is arriving (and not necessarily which bus).

As the pedestrian approaches, more detail is presented—such as the bus line and the stop this bus will hit next. This A/R sign might also update on the fly, presenting the pedestrian with the most up-to-date schedule.

One factor in A/R concepts that always concerns me is the visual noise that could potentially be our future. Designers and product leaders must have a way of minimizing A/R experiences so that the basic human experience of the outside world doesn't become simply a new canvas for advertisers nor over-ambitious designers seeking our attention.
