Mock Up: OSW Review Goes To New Japan
HELLOOOO! AND WELCOME TO OSW REVIEW, THE OLD SCHOOL WRESTLING VIDEO PODCAST! FILMED IN GLORIOUS GRAPPLEVISION, AND ENCODED WITH BLAST PROCESSING, WE CRITIQUE WRESTLING STORYLINES PAY-PER-VIEW BY PAY-PER-VIEW! THIS IS...NOT THAT!
One of my all time favorite podcasts, without a doubt. OSW was really instrumental to me in the past year where so much has been happening that I needed something to help distract me and give me something to listen to while I work. And those three Irish boys were just the thing I needed!
If you aren't familiar with OSW Review, the opening paragraph speaks for itself. Hosts/Irish lads Jay Hunter, V1 and OOC watch through wrestling storylines, focusing solely on the pay-per-views, with an extra Brucie Bonus here and there. They're sharp, crass, funny and even educational if you aren't the biggest mark for the industry. I've certainly learned a thing or two from these lads!
As of this posting, they're in the middle of their 'Ultimate Warrior in WCW' mini-arc and it's been a whopper job so far! One of my hopes is that somewhere down the line, they get to do an arc based around the Japanese promotion, New Japan Pro Wrestling. Not because I'm a huge mark for the company or a stalwart fan wondering what they think about it (because I'm admittedly a very casual fan), I just think it'd be cool to see their outsider perspective of things.
But with how protective NJPW is of their footage, that probably won't be happening anytime soon. A shame, I'd love to hear them rag on ol' ironchin Inoki. Alas, a boy can dream...A boy can also do a small bit of fanart as well, imagining a NJ take on OSW's logo with ol' MACHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE replacing the NJ Lion.
Fun Fact: I actually managed to send my portfolio to Jay once! I'd kill for the chance to work for those lads. Probably won't happen, but again, a boy can dream.
