What with my teammates being fond of Minecraft and all our project names being inspired by precious stones, this one was an easy pick.
While designing this logo for Obsidian, my workflow was as follows:
1. Start with rough sketches of several crystals. Pick some which are well-balanced.
2. Transfer the sketches to Illustrator and start working on the strokes. I used multiple polygons to create a wireframe for the logo. For that we need to switch off snap to pixels in Illustrator.
3. Pick a color palette (based on the gem's name here) and find multiple shades of one color.
4. Keeping in mind the source of light, paint the boxes!
