Earlier I used to think that a visually attractive design was all that is needed to make a good identity system, but that is not true! What makes a good branding design is how it connects with the target audience. You should first create a strategy that defines the brand tone, voice, and personas before creating visual assets. Using the strategy you have created, you should develop an identity system that reflects the same.
Good branding design is legible, functional, simple, and reflects the brand's personality.
