Sugar Skull Pineapple - Unused Concept Art

A rough composition I made years ago exploring a sugar skull pineapple concept. It never made it out into the real world, but I was always fond of it. Maybe I'm biased with a name like Pine :] Anyways, I threw a dark foreboding gradient background in and uploaded it.

Looking back at this concept piece from a few years ago, I'd spend more time integrating the gold skull highlights into the pineapple instead of such a soft fade. What else would you do?
