Happyscribe - Editor Expl.

Editor Exploration

Happyscribe is an all-in-one transcription and subtitles platform that leverages state of the art artificial intelligence in combination with top-tier language professionals to provide high-quality text outputs. In short, it's pretty spectacular SaaS product.

So why are we here then? Well, Happyscribe nailed the software and technical aspects of the platform, but the design could use a little tender love and care. To that end, I decided to explore a few redesigns, this one being one of the main views, the transcription/subtitle "editor".

I started by auditing all the elements utilized in this view, from readily visible tools like covert to subtitle, and translate to re-syncing the time, find and replace and so on. The goal was to find ways to optimize the overall functionality of this view while enhancing the visual structure. By surfacing a some of the tools that users are likely to use and either increasing visibility or decreasing it we can create a much more user-friendly interface. Moving items directly related to manipulating the document on the documents to the top right gives user a sense of more control without having to hunt so much. In addition, choosing to utilize the sidebar space to house a frequently used tool like find and replace helps to limit the amount of steps it takes for user to achieve success. This was an overarching mindset with a lot of these enhancements throughout. Overall, I think these updates provide some much-needed clarity and key focus areas while tightening up and maintaining functionality. This has definitely been fun to explore and, as always, stay tuned for more.
