2030 Climate Challenge - Web Design

Overview and Objectives

In the United States, the buildings, industry, and transportation sectors produce over half of the greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change. The 2030 Climate Challenge sought out proven, data-driven solutions ready to serve as a model for change for communities across the United States by 2030. These solutions would be provided by non-profit organizations.

Urgency and Optimism

The challenge was to strike a balance between the urgent nature of the message and the need to maintain an optimistic outlook and progressive vision for the future, as we adapt to protect the Earth.

This was accomplished with the use of inspiring and majestic imagery of mankind surrounded by nature. These images lived alongside gradients, vibrant buttons, and a color palette of aquatic blues, verdant greens, and other earthy tones. Finally, a serif font was used to focus the tone towards something more academic and study-driven while adding some gravitas towards the challenge as a whole.
