Uniform

Around the time I started writing and recording demos that would eventually become United Hairlines, I also started a new photo series. I haven’t shared any of these portraits until now, which has been quite an exercise in patience, but I’m proud to finally present them all. I call this series “Uniform”🧢

I photographed family, friends, neighbors, acquaintances, and more. Everyone put on my jacket, glasses, and hat—my uniform. Our identities are all so unique and I wondered what it would look like if we shared the same exterior, forcing a sense of commonality. Like all my people-based photo series, every shot was shared with a moment of bonding.

I think repetition can become compelling and beautiful. Once an idea expands, it grows to include more meaning behind it, telling a bigger story in the process. I love looking through all these portraits. I recall the moment and location they were taken, the conversations that we had, the emotions I was feeling at the time.

I’m constantly trying to learn about myself and mature as a person. It's the central theme behind much of United Hairlines. "Uniform" is a perfect companion piece. Maybe it'll help you learn something too.
