Chase.com and Zelle

About

Chase was looking for a way to integrate group and split request payment features into their web and mobile banking. A split request is a way to request money from your contacts, whereby you can ask several of your contacts to split a bill that you paid for, and the payment requests will be made based on the math done for you by the algorithm. A group request is requesting individual amounts from several contacts unrelated to one another - in other words, a batch request.

Our Solution

Through researching existing solutions and competitors, user testing, and conceptualizing an approach that would integrate well with existing Chase payment offerings, we deduced a solution that would integrate with Zelle in a seamless way, with a minimal learning curve for new users. The resulting UI and UX have increased user request rates by 28% as well as Zelle signups by 12%, a big uptick by all measures. The group/split request is currently one of the most widely used features on Chase mobile.
