Animoto - Safari Friends Process

This fierce creature was developed for one of Animoto's styles, skewed toward children. I created a series of animals that were later animated and put into action. The process began with inspiration from famed children's book author/illustrator, Eric Carle, and his technique of using different cut-out patterns for animals. In order to simplify the look and create cohesion, I designed the animals based on a square, triangle and circle. I then used patterns and textures that seemed familiar (at a second glance) to attain a pleasing look (my nod to Mr. Carle). Add blinking eyes and ear wiggles, and you have some new furry friends.
