Seat Selection Prototype

One of the problems designing the seat map, was seat selection for large planes with rows of seats that are 3 x 4 x 3 (especially on smaller devices). Making seats smaller didn’t align with the persona we were designing for, so we made the seat map "snapable" which allowed seats to be the same size for all aircraft types.

Another issue was selecting and deselecting seats for passengers part of large group bookings, as group bookings are common for this airline (e.g. one person booking and checking-in all family members). How @Facebook does event RSVP was an inspiration for this, as this interaction allows users to select and deselect seats for all passengers on one screen, instead of going through a separate flow for each passenger (which we found in a lot of airline apps).

Made with Pixate (2014), taken with hyperlapse. Also tried Origami to prototype this but found the learning curve made iterating somewhat slower.

The GIF is a wee bit small (sorry) so attached is the exported prototype.

P.S. Filmed at rest unlike the previous shot, as we assumed most bookings (and check-ins) weren’t made moving around (:
