Sagittarius

It’s been a while since I’ve shared work on this series.

The mythology behind Sagittarius is confusing. It’s often assumed that the constellation is based on the centaur, Chiron, the poor sot who shot Hercules with a poison arrow. However, the actual myth behind Sagittarius refers to Crotus, a satyr who was a skilled hunter.

What’s a the difference between a centaur and satyr? You probably want to know. I assume everyone would. A centaur has a human torso and the four legs of a horse. A satyr has a human torso and two legs of a goat. An interesting fact regarding the fictitious.

Satyrs are said to be much better with a bow an arrow. That’s probably why a centaur shot Hercules. A satyr would never do that. Never send a centaur to do a satyr’s job.

The Sagittarius constellation is typically illustrated as a centaur, which is what I based this illustration off of. Really, I just wanted to illustrate four legs rather than two. Can you blame me?
