Inspired by the mighty waters of Yosemite

Did you know that San Francisco gets its water from the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir deep in Yosemite national park? Well designing the visual flavor of Hetch Hetchy, a Yosemite Pilsner I was struck by the force and power of the water. The color palette consists of pale straw, yellows and richly hewed blues with a few supporting greens. The goal is to communicate, crisp, clear, and refreshing.

Tips For Designing A Tall Boy Can.

Take advantage of the height. I put my signature surrealistic spin on the artwork. A pale, yellow sun cascades down the height of the can crashing into the Yosemite Valley below. In order to keep the focus on the sun, yet still communicate the depth of Yosemite Valley I use the silhouette approach. Layered gradients helps communicate depth and visual flavor with just a little bit of tree texture to break up the label.
