from little things...

"from little things, big things grow" sings Paul Kelly as I hum and draw along.

When my schedule allows i wake early to doodle, i use it to free flow, make a good coffee and drift from one reality to the next. Four years ago I introduced an overarching character/theme to focus these early hourly journeys, and now it is fun editing them while forming a field journal for botanist, surveyor, explorer, cartographer and mountaineer Crampon Jon. The pages are from his time in Electric Meadows and allowed me a scripted world to doodle in and a great chance to use satire to poke fun at colonial attitudes and perspectives still present in mountain culture, these morning sessions allowed me to process all the research, reading and trail time consumed.
