GoFundMe Charity: Designing for Social Change and Impact

Creative direction, Product design, UI/UX, Brand strategy, Cross-functional leadership

As the Creative Director of GoFundMe Charity (CrowdRise) from 2012 to 2016, I served a small but dynamic startup fundraising platform that catered to non-profits, charities, and various social causes. My primary role encompassed overseeing the platform's visual design, from the conceptual stage to the branding development. I was responsible for the overall look and feel of the product and crafting an intuitive, user-friendly interface, allowing users to navigate the site and accomplish their fundraising objectives easily.

My tenure at CrowdRise involved the following:

  • Tackling various design challenges.

  • Growing the team.

  • Building a robust brand that contributed to the platform's successful sale to GoFundMe.

Collaborating with high-level stakeholders such as Edward Norton, Shauna Robertson, Robert and Jeffrey Wolfe of Moosejaw, Chris Sacca, Bezos Expeditions, and Fred Wilson of Union Square Ventures was a significant part of my role.

I also worked closely with product managers, developers, and other creatives across different departments. The collective effort ensured that our design aligned with the company's vision and goals, leading to empowered success. My work at CrowdRise symbolized a commitment to aesthetic excellence and functional ease, fostering a connection between design innovation and positive social impact.
