TRACK ART USING MINIMAL DESIGN AND CUSTOM PHOTOGRAPHY

A minimal and dreamy track art design for Metallic Hardcore band, Trauma Bonds.

The provided mood board and visual reference collection focused heavily on a red and pink colour scheme, with a focus on dreamy and abstract floral imagery and very minimal typography, akin to that of the "Tumblr aesthetic" of the 2010's.

initially we used stock imagery to capture the feeling of their visual references, but I couldn't find anything I was happy with, nothing felt quite authentic.

I wanted to put my photography skills to use, so I took this photo of a flower from my garden. I used some small LED light boxes to create some dramatic lighting, and a collection of lens filters to create the abstract, glowy. dreamy and hazy effect.

For the type work on the design, we went for a minimalistic Swiss inspired layout. The minimal type designed to not distract from the imagery, whilst providing a callback to the traditionally "Tumblr" aesthetics of the early 2010's present in their mood board.

I also added some very small bits of informational text at the bottom. For me, this provided a little splash of extra graphics for the eye to land upon, adding a little bit of visual interest. Small typography at the bottom of photography also evokes the idea of elegance and expensiveness, and makes the piece feel cinematic,
