OMNIXBMS - Software as a Service (SaaS) Desktop and Mobile App

Problem

Managing finances and stock transparency can be a nightmare for businesses. High costs and lack of financial expertise can lead to potential financial disasters, particularly for those who are not accounting professionals.

Solution

OMNIXBMS (Omnix Business Management Software - Desktop, Mobile, and Browser App). A user-friendly, Software as a Service (SaaS) solution designed to empower business owners, whether they're running a retail operation, a wholesale business, or a service company. This software helps them manage their finances, stocks, and business processes, regardless of their accounting knowledge.

Design Process:

1. Stakeholder Alignment: The process began with a stakeholder meeting to understand project objectives, goals, and insights.

2. Existing Solution Examination: A heuristic evaluation assesses the existing solution, documenting feedback for improvement.

3. Brand Identity and Visual Language: A style guide was created to align the platform with the brand identity.

4. Usability Studies: Real-world feedback from current users helped validate assumptions and identify pain points.

5. User Feedback Integration: Valuable feedback-shaped feature enhancements, addressing user needs.

6. Site Map and Information Architecture: Simplifying navigation through optimized site maps and information architecture.

7. Native Web Application: The addition of a native web application extended accessibility, catering to web browsers and desktop applications.

Result

The result was an improved, user-friendly business management platform, with the introduction of a native web application expanding accessibility and usability. Users could choose between mobile apps, web browsers, and desktop applications, and offline synchronization ensured data continuity. The subscription model encouraged higher user adoption and enhanced system usability.

Challenges

Introducing a desktop native application posed a challenge, as it required learning new technology. Electron was adopted for this, which was both an opportunity and a challenge for the development team. The startup had limited time, and ensuring a timely implementation was vital.

Learnings

User involvement is key, as they are the primary stakeholders. Incentives can encourage user participation. Having professional expertise within the startup can significantly enhance product design. Continuous product evaluation is crucial, especially for startups.
