Lake Superior custom type

We're back home from a great little trip to the north shore. The cottage we stayed at in Lutsen, MN has interesting typography on its signage that has caught my eye many times in the past... this time around, I decided to create some custom type inspired by it.

I'll include a picture of the original sign in the additional images. This took up all of my relaxing time over the holiday but it was a really good and challenging exercise. I guess I'll get to reading books and playing chess next time! Much respect for all of the type/font designers out there!
