Digital Twins Buzzword Season...

Lets Talk Digital Twins...

This term gets tossed around, promising magical solutions to manage physical assets. Buyers, starry-eyed from fancy presentations, are lining up to buy these. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it might be. Let's face it, the "vaporware" vibes are strong here.

Remember those "revolutionary" SaaS solutions from 20 years ago that never quite delivered? The ones nestled comfortably in the graveyard of forgotten IT projects? Yeah, those. Here's the truth: functional, usable digital twins that actually help real humans do their jobs are rare. While the potential is there, the reality often falls short. Technology should serve your organization needs, not the other way around. At Noble, we believe in the power of rapid UX design methods to support innovation in the built environment, and we had the pleasure of putting this into action with the amazing team at EINO.

EINO, is a cutting-edge connectivity digital twin platform, empowers telecom companies to create digital twins of their networks, and their AI-powered network planning app helps planners tackle even the most complex assignments around asset management and optimization. Our mission? To leverage rapid design methods to define the SaaS product vision an unblock EINO's engineering.

Here's how we did it:

1. Discovery & Mapping: We started by immersing ourselves in EINO's world, conducting in-depth interviews with engineers, product managers, and support specialists. This requirement gathering process helped us understand their user needs, data requirements, scenarios, pain points, and key metrics.

2. Design Sprints & Prototyping: Armed with these insights, we facilitated focused design sprints. Over a whirlwind few weeks, we brainstormed, designed layouts, and iterated on potential worklflow solutions, rapidly prototyping them for user testing. This collaborative approach allowed us to identify the most promising ideas early on.

3. Collaborative Refinement & Iteration: Based on user feedback, we quickly shipped needed assets, refined our design system, ensuring they addressed pressing go to market needs. This iterative process fostered a strong sense of ownership and buy-in among the EINO team.

The Results:

Through rapid design methods, we were able to:

  • Identify key pain points in the engineering support workflow.

  • Develop and validate solutions in a collaborative and iterative way.

  • Deliver high-fidelity assets that supported enginnering velocity.

This project is a testament to the power of rapid design methods to create impactful solutions in a short timeframe. By working closely with the EINO team, we were able to not only design a better support workflow but also foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
