Giuvlipe Theatre 2015-2020 portfolio book

A legacy of feminist roma theatre

Giuvlipen means feminism in the Romani language and it is the name of the first independent Roma feminist theatre company in Romania. Their art is challenging, experimental and highly performative. In each show, they reclaim the art, history and cultural identity of Roma, through stories told by them, Roma artists. Giuvlipen was officially established in 2015 by actresses Mihaela Drăgan and Zita Moldovan.

Since then Giuvlipen has produced 13 shows and 14+ cultural projects, as well as having founded the Roma Actresses and Actors' Association to support Roma creatives.

2020 marked five years of activity, and so they approached me with the desire to create an offline, printed portfolio in the form of a bound book. Using the Romani wheel symbol present in their logo as well as their distinctive pink and black colour palette, the booklet highlights their shows and projects in a bi-lingual format (RO + ENG), also providing a Roma actresses and actors index at the end.
