Eturel Folklore collection

Art Direction and Design for Eturel, I led the creation of a collection of table textiles and accessories, including tablecloths, table runners, placemats, bread baskets, tote bags, and tree decorations. Inspired by the motifs of traditional Manchego aprons and the flora and fauna of the region, each piece is a unique and harmonious representation.

The research into the motifs of traditional aprons was a crucial first step. I delved into libraries, immersed myself in local history, and drew inspiration from the flora and fauna of the area. Stylizing the designs became a distinctive element, connecting traditional roots with a contemporary design applied to new mediums.

The motifs of embroideries in Spanish regional costumes reflect a rich blend of influences. Inspired by three main sources, these embroideries incorporate rooted Christian symbols such as the cross and the fish, merged with the Byzantine artistic current that reached Europe during the Middle Ages and the influence of geometric designs from African Muslim culture. These diversified elements, including anthropomorphic, zoomorphic, phytomorphic, and geometric motifs, create a symmetrical and orderly expression in regional costumes, highlighting Spain's cultural richness.
