Introducing 5217

Today Francisco Franco and I are releasing a new kind of project.

More than just a product, we've completed a design study - an experiment in creating an ultimately simple interface, backed by great code.

It's 5217.

The app is based on the idea that frequent breaks throughout the day can make you more productive. _The Muse_ back in 2014 found that the most productive cycle was 52 minutes on, 17 minutes off. Francisco and I took that idea and ran with it.

The result is an interface that's dead simple - just press one button and you're on your way.

With beautiful but subtle transitions, encouraging messages, and playful alarm tones, 5217 gently guides you through your work, allowing you to share how many cycles you were able to complete in a day when you're done.

It's unique, it's experimental, and - if I say so - we think it's beautiful and fun too. If an hour of your time is worth more than $0.99 (it is), then this app will pay for itself :)

Full design study will enter my portfolio soon!
