Michigan Flag (and process)

Haven't posted any professional design work in a while. Did a quick sketch for a Michigan flag redesign. Really happy with how this came out and how different it is. As a non-Michigan resident but someone who travels there often it comes down to water. Breweries moving closer to the Midwest for water, the Flint situation, and the need for change. Michigan and the Midwest will play a huge role in the future of hydration. The cropping of 3 water droplets to make an 'M' felt super unique, especially against the landscape of other state flags. Color wise bright blue feels like an idealized water color and orange is a state of warning, danger. Not full alert red but concern for future progress. It also creates a landscape of 2 hills and a glowing moon or sun which feels unique.

I like when so much can be distilled to something simple and clever. Hope you enjoy!
