Quote From Thoreau

I spent some time over the Fourth of July holiday reading passages Henry David Thoreau wrote while he was at Walden pond. It was fun to connect with such a great American mind. He was lamenting because he felt the people of his time had all but stopped reading from philosophers of the past. Over 150 years later things have only gotten worse. Our modern society distracts us from the hard work of reading philosophy and growing our understanding of the world around us. We conform to the easy life of constant entertainment and it's such a shame. His writing inspired me to be more vigilant in spending time reading and learning from those who've come before me.
