Out

Out is an American LGBT fashion, entertainment, and lifestyle magazine founded in 1992. It has the highest circulation of any LGBT monthly publication in the United States. In 2008 Here Media Inc purchased the brand and expanded the magazine’s web presence, OUT.com. My design is a light refresh on the imagery, fonts, layering, and overall copy layout.

The main featured article and subsequent articles below are designed on a grid system to maintain consistency of article flow and importance. A lack of color is purposefully used to tie disparate images together on the page. The imagery and social icons become full color when hovered over as an additional interactive element. The over visual and interactive design changes are starling without being bewildering.
