Flourish script sketch

A formal embellished exploration for my upcoming Flourished Script workshop November 5–6, 2016 at Cooper Union in NYC:

The lettering follows 18th century English roundhand models, featuring an 'o' with a shaded right stroke that also lacks a closed loop common in contemporary examples. Leaving the swashes unshaded allows me the freedom to explore a bunch of options before tightening up the pencil sketch or vectorizing the artwork.
