New Prompts Style/Icon

I've been working hard the last few months on an update to my creative writing app Prompts.

An update has been long overdue (two years, actually).

The app is simple enough: you use it to write and it gives you creative tools to help you do just that. One of the prominent tools is a button shaped like a lightning bolt. Tapping the button presents a writing prompt to help inspire you to write. There's a lot of technology and smarts behind the simple functionality, and that's what makes it magical.

Previously the app used that same lightning bolt symbol to represent itself. But the number of apps using a lightning bolt for their icon has skyrocketed since I first released Prompts back in 2014. So I wanted to do something slightly different.

After a bit of exploration, I landed on this simplistic tweak of the lightning bolt symbol. The simpler branding matches the cleaner aesthetic of the app and emphasizes exactly what you might expect by using it: nothing to get in your way, only a creative tool to help you write.
