The YouMap Site
We went live with the YouMap site a few days ago and there’s a few things I would like to point out that we were able to accomplish even in a fairly short amount of time:
• No third party libraries. No jQuery, no dependancies, just regular old javascript (8.3KB).
• HTML5 video that autoplays (including Safari on iOS 10!)
• Gotham Rounded (31KB) delivered via H&Co’s cloud.typography
• All retina assets
• Total site size is 10MB including the one minute of retina 30fps video.
• Without video site size is 659KB.
• Design was massively influenced (for the better!) after user testing and confirmation with a prototype.
• Site originated after a design sprint that included active participation with the client.
