Umphrees Mcgee Poster

I worked with an extremely talented Detroit-based designer, @Jacob Rosenburg on two posters for Umphree McGee; a jam band that “sound like incense smells”.

Like incense, their songs are real slow burners… and they needed two days to play a set.

We used this to our advantage in creating a “stereo” set of posters that can be displayed side by side for a full piece of art. The posters can also exist in “mono” form and stand by themselves which in that case would appear artfully cropped.

We drew inspiration for this undulating owl illustration with custom psychedelic lettering from many sources:
Psychedelic art, op art, old photo-lettering catalogs, odd masonic art, and an owl statue found in Belle Isle, Detroit.
