Google Maps for Android Wear

During my first Google UX Internship, I was fortunate enough to work on Google Maps for Android Auto and Google Maps for Android Wear. As part of my work for the Wear team, I was tasked with drawing the base map icons (compass, zoom affordance etc) and transforming static mocks into a complete animated flow.

Unfortunately I can only share part of the flow here, as there were some minor UI changes made between the completion of the animation and product launch. In this GIF, you’ll see the icons I drew (based on the icons in Google Maps for Mobile), and the first few stages of the animated flow. If you watched the Google IO 2015 Keynote (https://events.google.com/io2015) or own an Android based smart watch, you may have seen this already!

I’ve since interned another 2 times with Google, and have worked on some amazing projects that I’m excited to share with you guys shortly (:
