“Nanay” is Tagalog for “mother”. Many Filipino mothers are forced to find jobs abroad in order to pave the way for their families. Often they have to work under terrible conditions — long hours, no workers’ rights, little pay (but more than what they would make in the Philippines). This illustration is inspired by their struggle and their love for their children.
