Monarch Butterfly

As someone who is fascinated by the life cycle and metamorphosis of butterflies, I was only too happy to work on this piece. Unsurprisingly, my favorite feature of the brightly-colored arthropod was also the most challenging to draw. Since the Monarch butterfly’s distinctive orange and black veining is anything but geometric, I spent a good amount of time simplifying the pattern to fit within our more structural style while staying true to its original form.
