Refuge

I made this illustration during the news of the travel ban and the rhetoric about not accepting refugees into the United States. As a refugee in the United States myself, for me the American dream means perseverance and having the power to overcome difficulties. I feel that these qualities are already present within the immigrants who managed to overcome so many obstacles on their journey here, therefore they represent a part of the American fabric.

You can see a man (refugee) with his child on a lifeboat at night in one of the stars in the American flag.

All the illustrations that I draw on my iPhone are made with the Paper app and the FiftyThree Pencil and I do these drawing on my subway rides home so I limit myself to 35-40 minutes.
