Pour Over

One of the goals that I have this year is to simply think about design more purely and organically without the demands of the client, customers, etc. I want to just design and appreciate its value.

One way I’m tackling this is by giving myself a weekly or bi-weekly design challenge. I guess you could call them “prompts". These prompts are just words or phrases that I can design around. In some cases a prompt may lend itself to a logo, other cases it may just be a graphic or something else.

Here’s an example of my first prompt. I challenged myself to design a logo using a common coffee brewing method called “Pour Over”. That was it. Using that prompt I went to work.

Since I'm limiting my time to about 2-4 hours max, my goal for these challenges is to not focus 100% on execution and technique, but more about improving on my conceptual skills, sketching, etc.

I welcome feedback and rebounds. You can sign-up here if you want to join me with a new prompt every week or two.
