Hand Lettering - First Attempt

Tried my hand at hand lettering for a group sketch blog my friends and I are doing at http://commonpencil.tumblr.com

We sketch daily based on a prompt chosen by a member of the group. Each of us is putting our spin on it, and mine is lettering! I've always admired those who can hand letter, not to mention vintage sign painters and I'd love to learn. Helpful lessons are much appreciated!

This first prompt was "self-portrait" so I decided to draw my name in this Old English style. Some I drew directly from existing letters, while others I put my own spin on.
