Midnight Ultra Logo

Logo for Midnight Ultra, a DOOM-style wild western shooter by Forward Instinct. From our Steam page:

"In the American Southwest, a lone witch hunter travels across the desert, seeking to wipe out cultists of all sorts. Fight a variety of goons and ghouls, through small towns to dimension-spanning motels. Inspired by DOOM, Quake, and action games of yore, blast your way through a neon-dripped, pixelated nightmare in this high-speed, high-thrills FPS."

The logo was a mix of hand-written ("Midnight") and designed ("Ultra"). Originally it heavily used gradients, but as a result of a happy accident inputting the original draft into the color ramping system we use for the game, the logo came out as distinct strips of color. The rest was simple tweaking afterwards, to get the gaudy and iconic design we arrived at. Influenced by 80's era logos that blended calligraphy with type.
