Dogwood

We had two dogwoods outside my window growing up. The fruit is edible and tastes like sort a peach/mango mix. It's a weird little tree- the spiky balls in the center of the "flower" (it's not a flower, but I don't remember what they call it) stays prickly until it ripens into the fruit. And the bark is all patchy and cool looking. 9/10 those little spike balls hurt to walk on barefoot.
