Laying The Foundations

Hello! This shot is to let you guys know about a very cool project I'm involved in: my partner (in life and design!) @andrewcouldwell is writing a book about System Design, and I'm editing it!

Andrew has years of experience creating design systems for big, complex teams – he was doing it before we even had a name for it. I, on the other hand, had long avoided thinking / reading / talking about it because it sounded big and terrifying and complicated.

But conversations with Andrew about this approach to design made it feel approachable, logical, and (believe it or not) really fun to do. I've been telling him for years he should write a book to help demystify system design for other people too, which is why I'm thrilled he's going for it!

If you think system design won't work for your complicated team, or are confused by the jargon surrounding it, or just want to get better at your job, this book is going to be a godsend for you.

We're self-publishing the book in digital and print, which is a big and scary undertaking, but also very exciting. This project isn't to make money either; it's purely driven by a desire to get the crazy amount of knowledge in Andrew's head into the hands of designers who could use it.
