I know all the cool kids are using Sketch and XD these days, but sometimes I think better with Illustrator. Since I couldn't find any AI or EPS templates for the latest iOS icon style, here is mine for you to enjoy:

The square and circle grids are based on the baked-in Sketch templates; I've set them up as objects and guides in the Illustrator file.

Note: Updated to the iOS 12 version number but the file itself stayed the same.
