Austin Owls

Introducing the Austin Owls of the Cardinal League.

Nicknamed “The City of the Violet Crown” for the colorful glow across the hills just after sunset, we wanted to incorporate that color into the team. As the 4th most populous city in its own state, Austin can be easily overlooked, but is the fastest growing big city in America and on its way to becoming its own powerhouse.

We chose a mascot that embodies that same feeling. Native to most of North America, the Great Horned Owl can be easily overlooked as a mascot because of the perception of them being cute or harmless, but in reality they are fierce, night-stalking predators willing to prey on anything they can overtake with their sharp talons.
