Canada Lynx

Trump administration pushed changes through the Fish and Wildlife Service that will significantly weaken the Endangered Species Act. One of the changes is that species listed at ‘threatened’, or likely to become endangered, loose their blanket protection. This list includes animals like the Canada Lynx, Southern Sea Otter, Grey Wolf, and Polar Bear. The new rule also strikes the restriction of using economic data (rather than solely scientific data) to determine whether to protect a species. The purpose is to remove roadblocks (threatened animals) for industries like mining, and oil or gas drilling.
